How many digital agencies exist? Nobody publishes the number, so we estimated it, country by country, for 64 countries in Europe, the Americas and Asia. The result: up to 325,000 digital agencies.
The largest markets
- United States: up to 77,000
- China: up to 45,000 (an order of magnitude: LinkedIn data is weak there)
- Brazil: up to 27,750
- United Kingdom: up to 20,600
- Germany: up to 13,700
- France: up to 11,300
- Poland: up to 10,500
- Spain: about 10,000
- Canada: up to 9,000, Italy: up to 8,250, Netherlands: up to 7,650, Mexico: about 7,000
In Southeast Asia, the Philippines (up to 2,550), Singapore (2,300), Indonesia (2,100) and Vietnam (1,950) lead.
How we estimate it
We start from the companies registered as advertising and marketing services in each country, using LinkedIn's company data and, in Europe, Eurostat's business statistics. Then we calibrate with the two countries where our census is most complete: in Spain the census holds about 44% of the companies LinkedIn lists in that category, and in Mexico about 60%. We publish the high end of the range.
A digital agency here is a company that sells digital services to other companies: eCommerce, web, marketing, data, AI or software implementation.
Why it matters
For a software vendor, these numbers are the size of the possible channel in each market. Spain and Mexico are already mapped agency by agency; in the other countries the census grows every day.
The full table, with what is already mapped in each country, is in the market report. The figures may be quoted with a link to it.
